Clinical Genetics and Genomics
“Seeing their smiles and knowing the positive impact I've made in their lives is the best reward.”
My interest in genetics began in a lab while working on a bat conservation project in college. As I learned more about genetics, I realized the profound impact the field could have on individuals and their families. The personalized nature of genetics, coupled with the ever-changing landscape of rare conditions, drew me in, making every day a unique and exciting challenge.
As a doctor, I aim to partner with families to provide comprehensive care. While I may be the expert in genetics, the families I work with are the experts about their child. Together, we collaborate to develop individualized management plans and ensure that they feel supported in what can be an odyssey through medical genetics. With this approach in the clinic, and by facilitating connections with specialists and support services, we can navigate any challenges that lie ahead.
The resilience and joy that children express always remind me of the bigger picture beyond their medical difficulties. Seeing their smiles and knowing the positive impact I've made in their lives is the best reward.
