We offer a comprehensive range of care for children from infancy through young adulthood to help your child maintain optimal health and wellness. Below is a list of specific services we offer.
If you need to reach us outside of normal business hours, our on-call advice service provides phone advice or urgent care referrals. When your child needs medical help after hours, the nurse advisor will help you decide if your child needs home care, if he or she needs to be seen by a physician that night, or if he or she can be seen the next day. One of our pediatricians is always available for emergency care when the office is closed. Please call our office phone numbers if you need urgent medical advice. Phone assistance is available 24 hours a day.
In a life-threatening emergency, you should go immediately to the nearest emergency room or call 911.
While your primary care office should be your first choice for in-person or virtual care, After-Hours Virtual Care is a convenient way to speak with a Stanford Medicine Children’s Health pediatrician outside of normal business hours. Our virtual visits are the quickest and most secure way to see a Stanford pediatrician. With After-Hours Virtual Care, you can schedule same-day and weekend appointments and receive the highest-quality medical advice without waiting for a next-day appointment.
Our practice believes that all children should receive the recommended vaccines according to the guidelines provided by the AAP and the CDC. Vaccines are safe and effective in preventing diseases and health complications in children and young adults. Regular vaccinations help children ward off infections and they are administered as one of the safest and best methods of disease prevention. We are happy to discuss your concerns about vaccines at your child’s next visit. Safety facts on vaccines from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
We follow the immunization guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Detailed information sheets are published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Recommended Immunization Schedule
Child products, such as cribs and toys, are often recalled due to a defect or hazard. It’s important to pay close attention to recalled consumer goods to protect your child from dangerous items. View more information at the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
As a parent, it is your job to protect your child when riding in a vehicle. Using car seats properly helps keep children safe. But with so many different types of car seats on the market, understanding how to use them correctly can be overwhelming for parents. Visit the AAP Car Seat Safety Information page for guidance on choosing the most appropriate car safety seat for your child. We offer a class on the proper use of rear-facing car seats.
Traveling with children requires special planning and preparation, especially when traveling abroad. There are many things parents should consider when traveling with children of any age. Visit the CDC’s Traveling with Children web page for helpful resources on travel.

Please take a moment to read our most commonly asked questions. We're always available to answer your questions and encourage you to contact our office if you have a question that is not answered below.
A pediatrician is a medical doctor who specializes in the care of children. Pediatricians have undergone special training in the health and illnesses of infants, teens and young adults, and the majority of pediatricians are certified by the American Board of Pediatrics after passing a comprehensive exam.
Pediatricians provide preventive health care for children in good health and medical care for children who are acutely or chronically ill. They also provide parents with support and advice when dealing with issues such as growth and development, safety and prevention, nutrition, and emotional wellness to foster a lifetime of good health.
Yes, in fact we strongly encourage parents-to-be to visit our office for a prenatal appointment. This is a great way to get acquainted with our office and our doctors. During this visit, we will answer any questions that you have about our practice or your new child.
Your child should not only see the pediatrician for an illness. It is also important to schedule well-child exams regularly, beginning in infancy. Also called well-care visits or checkups, these routine examinations provide the best opportunity for the doctor to observe the progress of your child's physical and mental growth and development, to counsel and teach parents, to detect problems through screening tests, to provide immunizations and to get to know one another. Well-care visits are strongly recommended as part of preventive pediatric care.
Well-child visits are also a good time for parents to raise questions and concerns about their child's development, behavior, nutrition, safety and overall well-being.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends this schedule for routine well-care visits:
You can schedule an appointment by calling our office during regular business hours.
Yes, we always welcome new patients. Contact our office for additional information or to request an appointment.
Immunizations are a series of shots given to children at different ages to help ward off serious, and potentially fatal, childhood diseases. Making sure your child receives his or her immunizations on schedule is the best way to help protect your child from potentially fatal diseases. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, vaccinations have reduced the number of infections from vaccine-preventable diseases by more than 90 percent. If you're apprehensive about vaccinations, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
